The Katra Theme Park is likely to come up close to the Vaishno Devi temple; there are three proposed sites near it.

Vaishno Devi temple attracts over 8 million pilgrims every year, and the theme park can be a post-darshan attraction for hundreds of pilgrims.

The main aim of The Katra Theme Park is to merge education and information. It will also showcase the mythology and highlight the economic development of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Centre had promised economic progress in Jammu and Kashmir, though by taking a different route. Senior government officials said that we would not strive for development by building cement-making factories but using unique methods.

The Katra Theme Park calls for an investment of 5000 crore rupees and a foreign partner– like Disney. This theme park will create substantial employment opportunities, which the people of Jammu and Kashmir need desperately.

The Union Territory government has begun looking for a foreign partner in the PPP venture, with centres support.

The government sources said, “it aspires to create a world-class theme park, a Disneyland without mighty Mickey Mouse but with Ram- Sita and Krishna – Arjuna.”
