An IAS aspirant from Kakpora area of Pulwama was allegedly by Government Forces in the Kakpora area of Pulwama in South Kashmir.
The family of the victim speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that Waseem Ahmed Alaie (Mumin) was thrashed inhumanely by Government Forces in the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.
They said that during a search operation, launched by Forces in the Wukhu locality of Kakapora in Pulwama District, Waseem was brought out of his house and then severely thrashed by Forces.
“We constantly pleaded the forces to not thrash him, as he had recently underwent surgery in his face and nose, however the forces showed no mercy and beat him constantly,” the family member said.
He alleged that the Forces are forcing youth to take up intense measures. “Such measures will not bring peace, it will only deteriorate the situation further in Kashmir,” he said.
Waseem who is a B.Sc graduate, had recently passed the entrance test for the IAS Coaching service, availed by the District magistrate of the Pulwama District for students amid lockdown in Kashmir. “He was going to the ‘wonderful’ classes initiated by the DM of Pulwama, and he had no connection with anything, i do not know why he was thrashed,” the family member said.
Appealing the District Magistrate to intervene, he said that the family wants such incidents to stop for once and all.
The Jammu Kashmir Police has called the family, he said, adding, “we thank the Police officials who have been cooperative, they have ensured action regarding this unfortunate incident.”
