Illegal extraction of sand and soil: Police seize 7 tippers in Central Kashmir, arrest 7 accused

Police in Central Kashmir’s twin districts arrested seven persons and seized tippers on charges of illegal extraction of sand and soil and its transportation from one place to another.

A police official said that police station Beerwah after receiving reliable information that some tippers are illegally extracting sand and soil from government land arrested 5 persons and seized the same number of tippers.

These tippers were seized near a checkpoint at Mulshulla crossing. Police identified the accused as Bashir Malik of Dadina Budgam, Firdous Gabor of Budgam, Danish Baba of Qadipora Budgam, Ashiq Hussain Yatoo of Sholipora Budgam and Yousuf Mir, a resident of Waterwani Budgam.

The police official said that an FIR vide number 1/2022 has been registered against the accused in this regard.

In Ganderbal district also police arrested two persons and seized tippers from them for extracting sand and bajri from Nallah Sindh, near Waheeedpora Gangerhuma

A police official told news agency Kashmir News Trust that these tipper drivers were arrested after police visited the spot of extraction. He identified the accused as Mehrajuddin Guroo and Sajad Rather, both residents of Gangerhuma village of Ganderbal.

A case in this regard has been registered at police station Ganderbal. (KNT)
