Imran Khan loses No-Trust vote, To be removed as Pakistan PM

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan lost a crucial trust vote in the National Assembly past midnight on Saturday, becoming the first premier in the country’s history to be removed through a no-confidence motion.

The National Assembly session, began on Saturday 10. 30 am, was adjourned multiple times ahead of the voting.  Meanwhile, Speaker Asad Qaiser and Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri resigned before the voting began.

Imran Khan, who was elected as the Prime Minister in 2018, faced a no-confidence vote largely on accusations of economic mismanagement.

The opposition’s no-trust motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan succeeded an hour past midnight on Sunday, with 174 members in the 342-strong house voting in favour of the resolution.
