In Absence of Stones, People Throw Snowballs at Forces Near Kulgam Encounter Site

Defying strict restrictions, clashes have erupted in Dangerpora area of Kelam in Kulgam district of South Kashmir.

Sources told The Kashmiriyat that hundreds of men and women stormed onto the streets shouting pro Freedom slogans trying to march towards the encounter site.

Trying to help, the trapped Militants escape, the locals threw stones of Government Forces.

They said that people are also throwing snowballs at the forces as at least two feet of snow has gathered on the surface.

The Government Force personnel fired aerial shots and pellets towards the people to disperse them.

As per the latest reports, the clashes were going on.

Meanwhile firing has restarted at the encounter site in Kelam’s Dangerpora.

Stone pelting at encounter sites that started in 2015 has continued despite warning from Indian Army and local Police officials.

People in large numbers rush to the encounter sites to give a engage the soldiers and give a chance to Militants to escape the encounter site.

A report published in 2018, stone pelters have helped Militants more than 20 times to escape encounters.

Despite more than 120 boys having lost their lives in clashes near encounter site, people in large numbers still throng encounter sites.

Experts believe that the youth have been pushed to an extreme as the Indian Government continues to deny space for Political resolution of the Kashmir issue.
