In UP, Four Booked Under Sedition for Hoisting Flag on Rooftop After Protests by Hindutva Group

The Police in Uttar Pradesh booked four persons under sedition after right wing groups alleged that a Pakistani flag was hoisted on the rooftop of a house in Mundera Bazar area of Chauri Chora in Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh, Indian Express reported.

A group of Right-wing activists gathered outside the house as the word spread in the area and pelted stones on the house during which the houses suffered heavy damage.

The Gorakhpur SSP the report said the police were investigating the matter.

Four persons booked in the sedition case by police have been identified as Talim, Pappu, Ashiq and his brother Asif.

The flag hoisted on the rooftop was a green flag with a crescent and a start not the Pakistani flag, the residents claimed.

During the search of the houses by the UP Police, no Pakistani flag was found inside the house, the Police said. The family handed over the flags with the crescent and star to the Police.
