The INDIA coalition has decided to not send its representatives to shows hosted by fourteen news anchors.

The anchors listed by the bloc are those who have been accused of openly running the propaganda of the Bhartiya Janta Party and peddling fake news in favour of the incumbent government.

Pursuant to the decision taken by the INDIA Coordination Committee in its meeting on September 13, 2023, the INDIA parties will not send their representatives on the shows and events of the 14 anchors including Arnab Goswami, Gaurav Sawant, Navika Kumar

The others included in that list include Aman Chopra, Amish Devgan, Anand Narasimhan, Ashok Shrivastav, Chitra Tripathi, Prachi Parashar, Rubika Liaquat, Shiv Aroor, Sudhir Chaudhary and Sushant Sinha.

K.C. Venugopal, general secretary of INDIA, stated that “the coordination committee authorised the sub-group of media to decide upon the names of anchors on whose shows none of the INDIA parties will send their representations.”

Chaddha added that the media sub-group of the INDIA alliance has made a suggestion in this respect.

The INDIA alliance will issue a notification and cease attending such shows after receiving a proposal from our media subgroup that there are some anchors who conduct heated arguments in the nation, he had told ANI.

Along with running a pro-BJP campaign, several anchors in the past have been accused of running Anti-muslim propaganda to support the ruling party in centre while a few of them have been booked for offences including peddling of fake news, targeting religious minorities among others.

Pertinently, INDIA bloc came into existence earlier this year. An amalgam of over one dozen political parties from all over the country, the bloc will jointly contest the elections in 2024.

The name of the bloc, critics say, has forced PM Modi and others to start using the name ‘Bharat’ for India instead.
