Despite Curfew like restrictions, the Chairman of Ummat e Islami and Mirwaiz of South Kashmir, Qazi Ahmed yasir today managed to reach Wachi area in Shopian District where he was invited for Friday congregational prayers. Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir later led a massive pro Freedom rally in the area.
The Chairman of Ummat e Islami addressing the massive Pro Freedom demonstration said that India should stop flexing muscles on Kashmiri people, because the policy has defeated them and so have the numbers. “The Indian Army through the Policy of Muscles has killed many Militants in this current year but despite that more than 100 local youth have joined the Militant ranks,” Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir said. He said that despite lack of training, shortening of shelf life of a Militant, more youth are joining the Militant ranks and same is the case with funeral sizes and Stone throwing. ‘Despite Warnings, more and more youth are reaching the encounter sites and the funerals,” he said.
He said India has to understand that they are victimising the peace in South Asian region by dragging the Kashmir issue. “India has a key role to peace building in the whole of South Asia and it must resolve the issue of Kashmir to ensure peace at the earliest,” Mirwaiz Qazi yasir said. He said that Military cannot resolve issues or find solution to them, rather meaningful deliberations and discussions will. The Policy of Military might will not resolve Kashmir, it may muzzle the voices of dissent for a few minutes, but cannot make peace. “We are not blood hungry like a few sections in the Indian Media, we want to ensure that the bloodshed ends,” Mirwaiz said.
Mirwaiz Qazi yasir also condemned the witch hunting of Khan family of Lal Chowk Islamabad who have been constantly harassed after an encounter raged at their house on Wednesday. “They have suffered a lot already, they should not be harassed anymore,” he said. Wednesday’s encounter raged at the house of the General Secretary of Ummat e Islami, Waheed Ahmed Khan, who is also a close aide of Mirwaiz Qazi yasir.
He praised the people of South Kashmir who have showed a path to people from rest of the valley. “The people in south Kashmir have from the past few years collected money, donations and ensured other necessities for the victims of the encounter,” Mirwaiz Yasir said.
At last he offered Fateh Khawani to the martyrs of Kashmir and demanded the release of Political prisoners.
He also visited the families of victims of conflict in the area.
