India Repeating 90s in Kashmir, but They will Fail Again- Sajad Lone

The Chairman of people’s Conference Sajad Lone has denounced the arrest spree in Kashmir in the aftermath of Deadly Pulwama attacks.

Lone while cautioning the Government against the arrests said that India has tried such tactics in early 90’s, but these models have failed earlier too.

“Things may worsen, if you try to repeat sending people to jails like you did earlier in 90s by ferrying leaders to Jodhpur  and many jails across India,” Lone said in a tweet.

Large scale arrests took place in 1990. Leaders were ferried to Jodhpur and many jails across the country. Things worsened. This is a tried tested and failed model. Please desist from it. It won’t work.Things will worsen.”

Pertinently, Yasin Malik, the chairman of JKLF and at least a dozen activists of Jama’at e Islami were arrested during raids in the Kashmir valley.

100 additional companies of troopers have been rushed to Kashmir, the move comes at a time, when there are speculations that Article 35a, which grants special status to Jammu Kashmir may be scrapped.

Mehbooba Mufti, the former Jammu Kashmir chief minister has also denounced the arrests.
