The Jammu Kashmir administration has opened a new portal, “ensuring the return of Kashmiri migrants”, including Kashmiri Pandits.
The new website — www.jkmigrantrelief.nic.in — has been launched on Tuesday that will deal with concerns related to their land and properties.
This website will respond to grievances of Kashmiri migrants of all communities for property disputes and distressed sale of their immovable assets within Jammu Kashmir.
According to J&K administration data, there are around 44,167 officially registered Kashmiri migrant families, including 39,782 Hindu migrant families.
To recall, the Narendra Modi government had in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha during the Monsoon session that people returning to the Valley after the abrogation of Article 370, can approach the district magistrates to seek the removal of any encroachment on their properties.
The government had further clarified that under the J&K Migrant Immovable Property Act, 1997, district magistrates are legal custodians of the immovable properties of migrants, who take suo moto action on eviction proceedings in cases of encroachment.
