
In the recent administrative reshuffle ordered by the Jammu Kashmir government, IPS officer Amritpal Singh has been appointed as the new Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anantnag, replacing the earlier officer. His posting comes at a crucial time, with Anantnag remaining one of the most strategically important and sensitive districts in South Kashmir, especially in the run-up to the assembly elections. Singh’s prior experience in handling sensitive law and order situations is expected to aid in maintaining stability in the region.
Meanwhile, G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, IPS, has been posted as the new SSP Srinagar, taking over from Imtiyaz Hussain Mir, JKPS. As the new police chief of the summer capital, Chakravarthy will be at the helm of managing urban security challenges, counter-insurgency coordination, and civic issues in one of the most visible districts in Jammu and Kashmir.

Ajaz Ahmad Bhat IPS has been appointed as SSP Traffic City Srinagar, a key role in managing the city’s complex traffic network.
The CID wing saw a major shuffle, with Peerzada Naveed JKPS posted as SSP SB CID Kashmir, while Amit Gupta JKPS was appointed as SSP HQ CID.
Other important changes include Tanushree IPS being shifted from SP SIA Kashmir to SIA Headquarters, and Bisma Qazi IPS being posted as Commandant of the 2nd Woman Battalion JKAP. Rohit Baskotra JKPS, who was handling Traffic on the National Highway, has been assigned as SSP Special Security Group.
These postings are part of a broader reshuffle of 96 IPS and JKPS officers across the Union Territory, aimed at reenergizing the police leadership and enhancing administrative effectiveness.
