The Journalists detained from Anantnag district remained in custody after being detained during the last few days from their homes in the South Kashmir district.
Suhail Dar, a freelance journalist from the Batengoo area of Anantnag was detained on October 08 and has remained in custody on the eighth consecutive day, his family said while talking to The Kashmiriyat.
They said that the family the father and mother of Suhail are left with nobody to take care of them. Suhail’s father is paralyzed and his mother is severe asthmatic patient. “They cannot move away from their beds, It is only Suhail who takes care of his ill parents,” his brother-in-law said.

Imran Shah, Salman’s brother said that he went to the Police station to seek details of the charges against Salman, however, was told that he needs to go to the concerned Police station and seek details there.
“I also went to the Anantnag jail, where i was told that the Jail was closed in view of a holiday today (Friday),” Imran said.
Salman Shah, editor of The Kashmiriyat weekly print edition- Kashmir First, was detained on the 12th of October during a raid at is house in Shirpora area of Anantnag town. According to police he has detained for questioning.
The duo was shifted to Anantnag’s district jail after being booked under Section 107, 151 of CrPC- which allows preventive detention of any individual.
An official said that the duo have to be bailed out by the magistrate on Anantnag district.
