Kashmiri Sikh community sends flood relief trucks to flood-hit Punjab

Kashmiri Sikhs have donated two trucks of relief material to the flood hit Punjab.

Kashmiri Sikh activist Angad Singh Khalsa said that Kashmiri Sikhs from all districts of the valley donated massively for the flood hit state.

“From all districts of Kashmir members of local Sikh community collated relief material for Punjab flood effected areas, Local GPC & team of SGHSS did rememberable sewa,” he tweeted.

Dr. Kulbeer Singh, another SIkh activist said that Kashmiri Sikh Sangat from Kashmir has donated relief including essential items for Panjab. “Two trucks of flood relief were today sent by Kashmir sangat towards Panjab. We know it is not enough to feed a one village but our love and gratitude for Panjab,” he tweeted.

On 9 July 2023, a high alert was issued in different districts of Punjab due to incessant rains.

There were a surfeit of waterlogged roads and agricultural fields submerged in water. The situation worsened in Patiala and Dera Bassi as fields were inundated.

Many roads caved in, disrupting the traffic. The rains did not show any signs of abating as it had been profusely raining for the past three days.

On 10 July 2023, an order was passed to close all schools, which are not expected to reopen until 17 July.
