Kejriwal Promises 200 Units of Free Electricity as AAP Gears Up for Punjab 2022 Elections

On Tuesday, in the wake of Punjab elections 2022, the Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal has proclaimed a ‘new dawn’ for Punjab and signed off “see you in just a few hours,” in his tweet where he said he was en route to Punjab, the second time in the month.

Also, the Aam Aadmi Party’s Twitter handle tweeted “Stage is set!! Arvind Kejriwalji will make a mega announcement today which will send 440-volt current to the Captain (Chief Minister Amarinder Singh) and Congress.”

The Delhi CM promised 200 units of free electricity to the people of Punjab if AAP comes to power in the state.

“In Delhi, we provide 200 units of free electricity to every family. Women are very happy. Women in Punjab are unhappy with inflation. AAP will provide 200 units of free electricity for all in Punjab,” Mr. Kejriwal said.

The promise of free electricity has come as the Congress high command pushes the current CM Captain Amarinder Singh to make a similar promise – to ensure 200 units of power free for households, especially to those in urban areas.

The state employees, unemployed teachers, and opposition parties have been protesting relentlessly in Punjab, against the issue of inflated power bills and the AAP has targeted the Punjab government for the same, as well.

Kejriwal had earlier announced that the chief ministerial candidate from their party would be a Sikh, this time.

“Captain Amarinder’s fear of Kejriwal has reached a point where his office has denied us permission to hold a press conference at the pre-decided venue,” the party leader, Raghav Chadha, tweeted on Monday when their party was denied the permission to hold a press conference.

Although, Captain responded, refusing the claim and adding “If he (Arvind Kejriwal) wants, I’d be happy to arrange his lunch too”.

The AAP and the Congress party seem to be at the forefront of the elections, although Siromani Akali Dal’s alliance with BSP would pose a huge competition as well.

Both the politicians have engaged in name-calling for the past few weeks. Captain had called Kejriwal a “slimy fellow in the habit of lying.”
