The objective of Janani Suraksha Yojana is to reduce maternal mortality rate (MMR) and neo-natal Mortality rate (NMR) through the promotion of institutional deliveries.

The District has achieved 100% immunization target of total target population.

Moreover, the district has witnessed 30% reduction in referrals from its institutions

It is pertinent to mention that Public Health is one of the priority areas for development.

As per the District Good Governance Index (DGGI) of J&K, under Public health sector, nine key indicators are identified looking at the outcomes like Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR), Infant Mortality Rate (IMR), immunisation achievement, etc. Measuring the performance of these critical indicators and comparing between the Districts provides an opportunity to design targeted intervention in lagging Districts.
