LG Manoj Sinha hands over appointment letters to kin of Civilians killed in Shopian fake encounter

The Jammu Kashmir admin on Tuesday handed over the appointment letters to the next of kin of three civilians killed in Shopian in July 2020.

The appointment letters were handed over by LG Manoj Sinha on compassionate grounds over to Shareen Akhter, wife of Mohammed Abrar, Mohammed Arif, brother of Mohammed Imtiyaz and Farayaz Ahmed, brother of Mohd Abrar, all residents of Rajouri.

The trio was killed in an encounter on July 18, 2020 in the Amshipora area of Shopian.

Later, it turned out that the claims of the army that the three slain militants were actually civilians and had been killed in a fake encounter for cash and other rewards.

The Lt Governor also handed over the appointment letter under SRO-43 to Smt Neeta Devi, widow of Chager Kumar of Dhandal, Ramnagar Udhampur who was killed in an IED blast in Udhampur in 2022.
