Locals of Shopian Area Complain of Electricity Shortage

In the aftermath of snowfall, various parts of the Kashmir valley have plunged into the darkness with the tripping of power lines leaving the residents vulnerable to tackle freezing weather. This winter- after the season’s first snowfall, many far-flung areas in the valley have been reeling under darkness for days together.

Locals are irked by the power outage, often complain of hardships in absence of electricity in cold weather.

The Locals complaining of a shortage of electricity supply in the Mantribugh area of Shopian speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that they receive electricity for very less time against the scheduled hours.

The Rural areas of Kashmir face the worst power reliability situation after every snowfall.

The locals in the Mantribugh area have been suffering from difficulties, as electronic heaters and other chargeable devices are difficult to hold on to generators and motors.

A local from Mantribugh Shopian spoke to The Kashmiriyat and said that every year PDD comes up with an excuse and this year was no different. They are destined to spent winter nights in harsh weather. The locals alleged that the authorities do not take advance steps to avoid power crises.

According to the government, of 951 feeders in Kashmir 471 were damaged, while 150 transformers got damaged in the valley in the recent snowfall.
