Man allegedly stabs mother in Anantnag, Accused arrested

A woman from Anantnag was stabbed by her son in the Batengoo area of Anantnag district in south Kashmir.

Family members of Hajira Begum wife of Ghulam Mohuddin Dar resident of Batengoo Anantnag aged 50 was attacked by her son in the south Kashmir district with a knife, causing injuries to her.

“On Wednesday evening, Javid the youngest son of Hajira Begum entered the house of Mohammed Amin, his elder brother where he tried to attack his own niece, but Hajira Begum intervened and saved Amin’s daughter,” Mohammed Amin said.

Javid then went on to attack his mother. “He forcibly held his mother and stabbed his own mother with a knife in her abdominal area,” he said. Hajira fell down at the spot, but Javid did not even pick his mother up and kept watching her as blood was oozing out of her belly.

Upon hearing cries and shouting, the neighbours gathered around the house in Batengoo and rushed Hajira Begum to GMC Anantnag where the woman is being treated.

An official told The Kashmiriyat that the concerned DySP, Duty Officer reached the spot and arrested the accused and the Police have launched investigation into the matter.
