Meet Shahid Lateef Bodha: A 20 yr old sketch artist from Dooru shahbad

Shahid hails from Dooru Shabad area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district. He started making paintings and drawings from his childhood and portraits in 2021. He is a self-taught artist who is really touching the heights of success due to his unique art of sketching and designs on case covers as well. He is passionate about his art and wants to give wings to his dreams. Artists use their unique form of artwork to pass along their views and feelings.

The importance and value of art and the artist to society have remained constant throughout history. Art produced by an artist creates an innovative way of viewing the world or society around us. Interpreting art depends on a person or artist’s experiences, their associations, visionary thoughts, and culture. He said, “An artist can paint any situation through his art may it be happy or sad.”

He completed his 10th at AGPS Pahalgam where he has been awarded so many times and he was also honored with the best painter of the school Award. He participated in many district-level competitions and where he has scored 1st 2nd 3rd rank many times. He has been honored by the GOC of Kashmir also while studying in Pahalgam.

He is also a businessman and completing his graduation. He was selected for the state level in the 2016 Anantnag district level competition but due to crisis, the competition was called off. He quoted, “Sports in, drugs out” where he meant that youth should be provided with more and more platforms so that they could remain away from the wrong path.

Talking about the significance of social media in highlighting the talent of a person, Shahid told The Kashmiriyat, “The youth should use Social media as their weapon. Whatever talent they have like painting, dancing, or comedy they should choose their content and upload it on social media. Through social media, they can show their talent and represent Kashmir as well.”

He also said that government should also support the youth and promote their talent. “Events should be organized in district Anantnag and one auditorium like Tagore Hall Srinagar should be constructed in district Anantnag also so that the young generation can show their talent,” Shahid added.
