In less than a week, police have arrested one militant allegedly behind the attack on migrant workers from Punjab who were killed in the summer capital of Srinagar last week.

During a press conference, the ADGP Vijay Kumar, IGP V K Bidri stated, according to News Agency Kashmir Scroll, that the police succeeded in cracking the Srinagar attack by arresting one terrorist who was responsible for the attack within just 6 days.

ADGP said that Adil Manzoor has been arrested for his involvement in the attack and a weapon used in the attack has also been recovered.

Last week, on Wednesday evening, Amritpal Singh, 31, from Amritsar, Punjab, was shot dead by militants in the Shaheed Gunj area of Srinagar, and his colleague Rohit, 25, was grievously wounded. Sadly, Rohit succumbed to his injuries at Srinagar’s tertiary care hospital the next day, Thursday morning.

Importantly, the killing of the two Punjabi workers led to protests and marches across the Kashmir valley, with people calling for an end to the “bloodshed.” (KS)
