Militant from Kulgam among most wanted militants in Kashmir

Basit Ahmed Dar of the Redwani area in Kulgam has appeared in the Police’s list of most wanted Militants in the Kashmir valley.

The Jammu Kashmir Police Friday released the photographs of three militants identified as Basit Ahmed Dar of Kulgam,  Arif Ahmed Hazar, a resident of Pulwama and Momin Gulzar, a resident of Srinagar.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police have put up posters at various places announcing a reward for anyone providing information about them.

Basit went missing on 26 April 2021 and was earlier categorized as a C category militant.

On April 30, The Kashmiriyat reported that the family of a 16-year-old boy from the Redwani area of Kulgam district who had gone missing from his home in the South Kashmir district appealed him to return home.

Basit Ahmed Dar, the 16-year-old left his home for an errand and informed his family that he will return in a short span, but after that, his phone was switched off.

Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, the family members of the teenager had appealed to him to return home saying that, he was missing since 25 April.

“He left home for Kulgam for his work and that was the last time he called his family, since then his mobile phone is switched off to date,” a family member of Basit had said on April 30.

Basits father passed away in March last year and the death was traumatic for the entire family.

Redwani pertinently has been one of the most volatile belts of the South Kashmir region.

This belt was a venue for hundreds of rallies in the 2016 civilian uprising and was home to dozens of Militants and prominent commanders in the aftermath of the 2016 fallout.
