The murder of the top Jammu Kashmir Policeman has sent shockaves among the security grid in Jammu Kashmir and the prime accused in the murder is a 23-year-old man from the Ramban district of Jammu Kashmir.
Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that Yasir Ahmed, a resident of Gool in Ramban has been arrested and his interrogation has been started. He had been working as domestic help for the DGP for the past six months.
Yasir is suspected of having killed the DG prisons Hemant Lohia, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the 1992 batch.
Hemant had got his latest posting just two months ago. He was staying with his family at a friend’s house while an official house for him was being furnished.
A diary that police say belongs to him carries songs in Hindi, one of which is titled, “Bhula dena mujhe” (‘Forget me’). Other pages are filled with short sentences and notes — “I hate my life”, “Life is just grief…” — and one has a chart that starts with a drawing of a phone battery labelled “My Life 1%”, reported NDTV.
“Love 0%, Tension 90%, Sad 99%, Fake Smile 100%,” it reads further.
Another note titled ‘Life’ — exact date of writing not known — reads: “Mai jasi life je raha hoon, mujhe us sa koi problem nahi hai… Problem is baat se hai, aagay hamara kaya hoga (‘I have no problem with the life I’m leading; the problem is with what might happen in the future’).”
Meanwhile, militant outfit People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF) has claimed the responsibility for the killing of Jammu Kashmir DG Prisons Hemant Kumar Lohia.
The lesser-known militant outfit, Peoples Anti Fascist Front (PAFF) in October last year claimed responsibility for the month-long Poonch gunfight in which nearly a dozen Indian army personnel were killed including two Junior Commanding Officers (JCOs).
This was the longest and deadliest operation of the decade as the number of killings of government forces remained at a record high.
The outfit also claimed responsibility for killing a municipality councillor, Rakesh Pandita from the Tral area of south Kashmir earlier that year. However, the police then said that the PAFF is the name created as a cover for Lashkar-e-Toiba and other groups active in Kashmir.
The PAFF is believed to have come into existence after Jammu Kashmir (J-K) was stripped of its limited autonomy on 5 August 2019. There has been no word from authorities regarding the PAFF’s claim on DG Prison’s killing.
The Jammu Kashmir Police has said that initial investigation has recleaned that Yasir was quite aggressive in his behaviour and was also under depression.
The DGP said that that photographs of the accused have been circulated in the media and a hunt has been launched him to track him down.
Police also said that so far there is no apparent terror act while a thorough probe to cover all angles was on.
