IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar claimed that Militants have been eliminated from South Kashmir and said that now the Forces will carry out a special campaign to make North Kashmir Militancy free.

He said that so far this year, security forces have killed 94 militants, including all the key commanders of various organizations including Hizbul Mujahideen, Lashkar and Jaish-e-Mohammed, in separate operations in the interior of the valley.

Talking to reporters in the police control room, the IGP said that there are only a few militants left in South Kashmir. Most of the terrorists have been killed or have fled to other areas to save their lives. He was accompanied by senior officers of IG CRPF and Army.

While claiming to mark the killers of Sarpanch Ajay Pandita in Anantnag last week, the IGP said that a Militant named Umar has been killed in an encounter in Kulgam in the past.

“He was also one of the murderers of Sarpanch. The other Militant killed along with him has also been involved in the murder of the Sarpanch. Other facts related to this incident are also being investigated,” the IGP said.
