Militants Likely Escaped After Brief Exchange of Fire in Sopore

A gun-battle broke out between government forces and militants in Tujjer Shareef area of Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district late night on Monday.

Officials told The Kashmiriyat that a joint team of Army’s 22 Rashtriya Rifles of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF cordoned Nowpora locality of Tujjer Shareef in Sopore last night and started a search operation.

“The Hiding Militants Opened fire upon the troops,” he said.

Meanwhile, authorities have suspended the Internet services and closed educational institutions in Sopore.

Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the holed up Militants have escaped from the site of the gunfight, however searches are still being conducted in Nowpora area of Tujjar Shareef.
