Despite various media reports about his release from the house detention after almost 20 months, the police trucks have still cordoned off the area from his entrance to the university gate & he is unable to move out.
Authorities backtracked on their promise to release him.
Since then, Mirwaiz has been strictly put in custody since last evening and this information has been given to him by the senior police officials while more police vehicles have been deployed around his residence.
However, mobile police vehicles continue to remain deployed outside the main entrance gate of Mirwaiz’s Nigeen residence.
Mirwaiz was placed under house detention on August 4, 2019 a day before the government of India scrapped Article 370.
