Module of falcon squad of TRF involved in Baramulla wine shop attack, case cracked within 48 hours: SSP Baramulla

SSP Baramulla Rayees Mohammad Bhat on Thursday said that the module of Falcon squad of militant outfit LeT who were involved in the recent attack on a newly open wine shop in Baramulla has been busted.

Addressing a press conference here at Baramulla, Rayees said that the four militants belonging to the so-called falcon squad of TRF of outfit LeT who were involved in the attack on the newlywine shop in Baramulla were arrested within 48 hours.

SSP said that at around 2010 hours on may 17, militants hurled a grenade inside a newly opened wine shop at Dewan Bagh Baramulla, resulting in injury to four employees. One of them, Ranjit Singh of Rajouri, succumbed to his injuries within an hour while three others are undergoing treatment

Soon after the attack, the investigation was started based on the clues and leads found on the spot and from CCTV cameras installed nearby, SSP said adding that they also had inputs about two bike-borne militants who had perpetrated this attack.

Acting Swiftly further, it was found that two bikes bore militants stopped at the wine shop and one among them clad in Burka dropped a grenade inside the wine shop and fled from the spot.

After pains taking investigations and analysis of evidences found on the spot, some suspects were picked up and during interrogation it was find out that group of four LeT militants so called falcon squad of self styled TRF were involved in the attack, he said.

All the four militants involved in the attack have been arrested. They were being supported by a local militant associate who has also been arrested, SSP said adding that various recoveries have taken place which include five pistols, 23 grenades, one tiffin box IED. Besides seven magazines, 205 rounds of ammunition and 4 cleaning rods along with a bike used in the attack.

SSP further said that it took lot of efforts by which ultimately case was cracked because the terrorists were smart enough as during the the transactions that were involved in the planning of this terror attack, they tried to hide their identities.

Some mobile phones and other such devices have also been recovered.”we are looking for other leads as such case stands closed”, he said.(KNS)
