More rains predicted, Snowfall likely in upper reaches of Kashmir

Rains have lashed Kashmir plains yet another time on Monday morning while more rainfall is expected in the next 24 hours.

As per MeT, Light to moderate rain has been occurring since early morning on Monday while fresh snowfall has been reported from the higher reaches of Kashmir.

There has been fresh snowfall in the upper areas of Gurez valley of Bandipora district of north Kashmir following which the Bandipora-Gurez road has been closed, as per officials.

They said that moderate to heavy rainfall has been recorded in the plains.

Meanwhile, Kashmir Weather, an independent weather monitoring website has said that moderate rain/snow showers are expected in most areas of Jammu and Kashmir for the next 24 hours.”The chances of snowfall in Sonamarg (85%) and Pahalgam (55%) will reduce the overall temperatures in the valley,” it added.

Kashmir Weather predicted that the temperatures, especially today (Monday) can stay below 14°C at most places in Kashmir Valley and a significant drop in day temperatures is expected in Jammu region as well.

“There is a risk of shooting stones/landslides along Jammu-Srinagar National Highway,” Kashmir Weather predicted.
