Displaying yet another example of communal harmony, Kashmiri Muslim neighbours performed the last rites of a deceased Hindu man in the Wahibugh area of Pulwama district in South Kashmir.

Locals told The Kashmiriyat that Kanhaiya Lal (80), a noble and respected man from the Wahibugh locality of Pulwama passed away after a prolonged illness on Saturday evening.

As soon as the news spread through the area, the locals thronged their house to express solidarity with the family. While the female neighbours consoled the women inmates, the male population arranged for the last rites.

“We arranged the wood and other items for the last rites of Kanhaiya Ji,” a local Abdul Rashid told The Kashmiriyat. The local Muslims shouldered the body of the deceased from his home to the ground where his last rites were performed.
