NC Leader and Plebiscite Front Stalwart, Abdul Gani Veeri remembered on his Anniversary

The Sixth Anniversary of late National Conference and Plebiscite Front stalwart, Abdul Gani Shah father of National conference south In-charge, Dr. Bashir Veeri was held in Bijbehara.

As per a press release issued to The Kashmiriyat scores of people from nearby areas paid glorious tributes to the late NC Leader during a Fateh Khwani ceremony held at the graveyard where Abdul Gani Shah (Veeri ) is laid to rest, at Veeri area of Bijbehara in South Kashmir’s Islamabad (Anantnag) district.

Veeri during his lifetime was jailed several times for his active role in Kashmir’s Plebiscite Movement.

The late NC leader was jailed along with Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah in the early 1950s. Later he was released from jail in late 1950 after which he joined the plebiscite front. Veeri could not visit his home village Veeri for 14 long years after 1950 after he joined Plebiscite Front.

Masses of the area remember Veeri for his works that he has done for the people of his constituency while remaining in term for three consecutive times in 1977, 83, and 1987.

Several leaders including On his sixth death anniversary, floral tributes were paid to Lt Ab Gani Veeri at his ancestral graveyard including Hasnain Masoodi, Altaf Kaloo, Syed Tawqeer, Abdul Majeed Larmi, Advocate Reyeaz Khan among others attended the even event and paid tributes to the JKNC leader.

A limited number of people adhering to covid protocols of people participated in the prayers held at Dr. Veeray’s official residence in Khanabal Anantnag, many people from south Kashmir visited the home of Mr. Veeri.
