Amid mounting frustration over the state of healthcare in Kulgam, National Conference (NC) spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar visited the District Hospital on Tuesday. Patients and their families voiced anger over the persistent shortage of doctors and medical staff. Addressing the gathering, Dar assured them that the issue had been escalated to the highest levels of government. He also announced that the hospital would soon be linked with Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag to improve staffing and medical services.
“I have already raised this issue with the Chief Minister and the Health Minister,” Dar told the gathering. “We are fully aware of the difficulties residents face here and have taken steps to escalate the matter at the highest levels of government” he said.
Residents at the hospital expressed concerns over the absence of doctors and the inadequacy of medical facilities. In response, Dar highlighted the party’s efforts to push for urgent intervention.
“Very soon, the District Hospital Kulgam will be formally associated with GMC Anantnag,” he said. “This integration will not only address the shortage of doctors but also ensure better healthcare facilities for the people of Kulgam” he added.
Dar emphasized that linking the hospital with GMC Anantnag would be a significant step in overcoming the existing healthcare crisis, ensuring specialist care and easing the burden on the district’s medical infrastructure.
His visit provided a platform for locals to voice their grievances. Many hope that his assurances will translate into tangible improvements.
“We remain committed to advocating for better healthcare services and infrastructure,” he affirmed, stressing that the administration must prioritize the region’s medical needs.
