In Jammu Kashmir, nearly 60 percent of seats remain unfilled in Type-I girl residential schools Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) thus taking a toll on decline in enrolment and functioning of the department.
The Ministry of Education (MoE) for Government of India (GoI) has said asked the Jammu Kashmir government has even failed to make nearly 86 Type-IV KGBVs posts functional.
The official documents of MoE available with the news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reads, “The Union Territory (UT) of Jammu Kashmir has not been able to operationalize 86 KGBVs of Type IV and one KGBV of Type-I, that was sanctioned in 2010-l l.”
Besides, the GoI also said. “At least 2075 that consist of 50.9 percent of seats are lying vacant against the 6150 targeted enrollment in 88 functional KGBVs of Type I,” it reads.
The GoI also said that the Samagra Shiksha Scheme has been aligned with the recommendations of the National Education Policy-2020 (NEP 2020).
“During the year 2021-22, the focus will be on enhancing the qualitative outcomes as envisaged in NEP 2020 and increase the effectiveness of the implementation of the scheme,” it reads.
The GoI also said that the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) have been developed for each intervention so that qualitative assessment of each intervention can be made.
