NIA announces cash bounty of ₹10 Lakh on militant commander Basit Dar, three others

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has announced a cash bounty of Rs 10 lakh on Kulgam-based TRF commander militant Basit Ahmed Dar and three others.

As per a report by Deccan Herald, The reward money has been announced in case 32/2021/NIA/DLI against Sajjad Gul alias Sheikh Saijad of Bemina, Srinagar (now in Pakistan), Salim Rehmani alias Abu Saad from Nawab Shah, Sindh Pakistan, Saifullah Sajid Jutt from Shangamanga, District Kasur, Punjab, Pakistan and Basit Ahmed Dar of Redwani Payeen, Kulgam in south Kashmir.

According to officials, Basit was the mastermind behind the spat of civilian killings in October. Basit, a resident of Redwani’s Kulgam, who had been missing from his home since April last year joined The Resistance Front (TRF), a front organization of Lashkar-e-Taiba.

According to security officials, Basit Ahmed Dar started his killing spree while taking orders from slain TRF commander, Abbas Sheikh. After the latter was gunned down by security forces, Bashir Ahmed Dar declared himself the chief of TRF.

According to the NIA, LeT commanders Sajjad Gul, Salim Rehmani and Saifullah Sajid Jutt had been radicalizing, motivating and recruiting youngsters to join militant ranks.

TRF was created after the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019. Indian agencies claim that the outfit is nothing but an offshoot of LeT.
