‘No pressure on Siraj ul Uloom by Army’: FIR filed against The Kashmiriyat for Shopian report

The Indian army on  Saturday denied reports of forcing Jamia Siraj ul Uloom in Shopian to celebrate January 26 republic day.

A complaint has been filed by the Army alleging that report carried by “certain news portals” were baseless and constituted ‘fake news.’

Meanwhile, a letter from the principal of Jamia Sirajul Uloom school, submitted with the army’s complaint to Jammu Kashmir Police also stated that there was ‘no pressure’ from the army to organize Republic Day celebrations.

Police officials have filed an FIR against The Kashmiriyat and Kashmir Walla under sections 153 and 505 at the Imam Sahib Police station of Shopian.

“According to the army, the reports are fake news, and the school authorities have also denied any coercion by the army. We have filed an FIR against the two portals based on the army’s complaint,” Shopian’s Superintendent of Police, Amritpal Singh told the press.
