Not allowed to attend condolence ceremonies: Says NC Leader

The senior National Conference (NC) leader and former legislator, Qaiser Jamsheed Lone on Monday said that he was denied permission to visit Lolab where he had to attend condolence ceremonies.

In a series of tweets, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the former legislator informed, “I have been denied permission to visit Lolab Kupwara, again. Have been wanting to travel to Lolab as many of our close family associates and senior party workers had passed away, but was denied permission time and again.”

He said that “Grieving with our people is a basic right and duty, denying us even that is reprehensible. Wanted to travel to Lolab Kupwara today on eve of death Anniversaries of late Sheikh Mohd Abdullah and my uncle Mushtaq Ahmed Lone.”

In another tweet, he asked, “Why am I being forbidden to even attend prayer/condolence ceremonies? it’s very unfortunate that on one hand we’re being told that you are free and on the other, we are being denied permissions to travel.”
