On Monday, Lok Sabha MP Sheikh Abdul Rashid, also known as Engineer Rashid, accused National Conference leader Omar Abdullah and People’s Conference chief Sajad Gani Lone of conspiring to defeat his Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) candidates in the Jammu Kashmir Assembly elections.

Engineer Rashid, who triumphed over both Abdullah and Lone in the recent Lok Sabha elections from Baramulla, stated that Omar Abdullah had previously branded leaders like Sajad Lone and Altaf Bukhari’s Apni Party as part of the BJP’s B teams.

He now claims to have “irrefutable evidence” that Abdullah and Lone have allied to sabotage AIP’s success in north Kashmir.

Rashid also pointed to the National Conference’s silence on BJP leader Tarun Chugh’s comments, which hinted at secret meetings between BJP leaders and various political figures, suggesting that exposing these would ruin many political careers.

Rashid questioned why National Conference leaders remained silent, implying it added weight to his allegations.

The Awami Ittehad Party chief also criticized Omar Abdullah for accepting support from Muntazir Mohiuddin of the Apni Party, which Abdullah had previously referred to as part of the BJP’s B team.

The assembly elections are currently underway, with the second phase of voting scheduled for Wednesday and the third phase for October 1. The results will be announced on October 8.
