A diary company Delicious has landed into a controversy on Tuesday after the food Safety department found a mislabel on its packet of curd as well as Milk.

The photo and video that was being circulated on Social media regarding the mislabel read: “Today is 09 April, 2019 but this milk was packed on 10 April, 2019 !! Think how fresh this milk could be?”

The company however denied the allegations and said that the milk packets were still under process when the Food safety Department raided their factory and seized all the packets. The director of the company upon being contacted refuting the allegations said that the Curd processing has to undergo a due process, before finally getting into the market.

“The Milk is initially packed, then fermented into curd and then eventually it undergoes the process of deep freezing and this entire process takes more than 10 hours, the concerned department seized the food packets even before they could be fermented,” the MD of the company said.

With panic mounting amongst the people of the state, who were unsure as to whether or not to drink milk and consume curd, The Kashmiriyat appraised the issue with the concerned officials, who seized the milk packets from the factory of the company while promising action against them.

The Food Safety Department Officer who raided the factory said that the team seized the milk packets from the truck as they were out for delivery. The Samples of the seized diary packets have been sent to the laboratory for test, the official upon being contacted by The Kashmiriyat said, a claim rejected by the MD of the company.

Around 68.7 per cent of milk and milk products sold in the country is not as per the standards laid down by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), a report is 2018 revealed.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) had issued an advisory to the Government of India stating that if adulteration of milk and milk products is not checked immediately, 87 per cent of citizens would be suffering from serious diseases like cancer by the year 2025.
