One Militant has been killed during an encounter that broke out between government forces and militants at Moolu in Chitragam area of Shopian district on Wednesday afternoon.
A Police official told The Kashmiriyat that a cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched in the area by joint team of forces including 44 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and SOG of Jammu Kashmir Police Police on specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
An official said that, after trapping the militants, they were asked to surrender, however, opened fire, which was retaliated, thus triggering an encounter.
Sources said that two to three militants are believed to be trapped, while one of them has been killed so far.
Internet services are likely to be barred in the district.
