The parents whose wards are enrolled in the school said that the school has total enrolment of 86 students, adding that only one teacher has been deputed to teach all the students, while other posts are lying vacant for a long time.
The locals said that the school also lacks the basic infrastructure and proper accommodation.
“Only three rooms are available at the schools to accommodate 86 students. Besides, the school also lacks toilet facility, washrooms, drinking water and playground,” they said.
“When it rains we prefer to stay at home as the narrow passage to school gets filled with mud and rainwater,” Nowsheen Hameed a student said. “From the past several years, the problems in the school were ignored, thus, leaving students to suffer.”
The parents said that there were no subject-specific teachers in the school.
“Our wards enrolled in the school are facing immense hardships,” Gulam Rashool, one of the parent said, adding that many parents have decided to enrol their wards in a private schools.
“We appeal to the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad to look into the problems and direct the concerned authorities to get the issue redressed at the earliest,” Rasool said.
A teacher of the school also said that they are facing immense hardships due to the non-availability of basic facilities in the school.
An official of the education department when contracted said, “I will collect all the information and try to address those issues immediately.”—(KNO)
