Over 45% votes were polled in the first phase of Panchayat polls in north Kashmir’s Bramaulla district till 1 pm.
Pertinently Elections are being held at Uri, Noorkah, Parenpillan, kunzer and Kandi-Belt of Rafiabad in North Kashmir’s Baramulla in the first phase of the nine-phased Panchayat Polls.
47 panchayat blocks will go to the polls in the first phase on Saturday in the nine-phased polls.
National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party, The two main parties of Jammu Kashmir, have decided to stay away from the electoral exercise while the Hurriyat leaders have asked people to boycott the polls and called for a shutdown.
Reports of shutdown were received from all the districts of the valley, the security arrangements have been tightened across the valley to stop any “untoward incident.”
