Three Jamat-ud-Dawa leaders have been sentenced to prison by a court in Pakistan for financing the 26/11 terror attack in Mumbai, India.

Malik Zafar Iqbal and Abdul Salam, will be serving 16-1/2 years, concurrently on 4 charges, while as Hafiz Abdul Rahman Makki will serve 1-1/2 years.

These men are close associates of Hafiz Saeed, the founder of Lashker-e-Taiba (LeT).

Jamat-ud-Dawa funds the militant wing LeT.

Pakistan is facing the threat of being blacklisted for failing to curb terror financing by the FATF, Financial Action Task Force.

These prison sentences come ahead of Pakistan’s September deadline to avoid the FATF blacklist.

Blacklisting by the FATF would mean being shunned by international financial institutions.

It’s pertinent to mention here that in 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks around 170 people were killed, including the 9 attackers and more than 300 injured.
