Pakistani cricketers rally behind Palestine amid trolling of Muhammad Rizwan

Days after Pakistan wicketkeeper batsman Muhammad Rizwan was brutally trolled both online and sections of mainstream media in India, Pakistani cricketers have openly supported the people of Palestine who are under constant attack from Israeli forces.

The Pakistan national cricket team is currently in India for the ICC Men’s World Cup 2023 tournament.

Amid the increasing casualties in Gaza, several players, including Shadab Khan, Haris Rauf, Mohammed Nawaz, and spinner Usama Mir, shared images of the Palestinian flag on their social media accounts, now known as X (formerly Twitter).

Earlier, Muhammad Rizwan, Pakistan’s wicket-keeper batter, dedicated his match-winning century against Sri Lanka on October 11 to the people of Gaza.

Following this, the Indian media ran several stories against Rizwan. This was followed by brutal online trolling and slogans were also raised against him upon his return to the pavallion during the India Pakistan clash in Ahmedabad Gujarat.

Pakistan had a strong start in the World Cup, winning their first two matches against the Netherlands and Sri Lanka.

However, they faced a one-sided defeat against India on Saturday.

Their next crucial match in the tournament is against Australia in Bengaluru on October 20.
