Parents, three children among eight dead in road accident at Daksum

In a heartbreaking accident in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, eight persons, including five family members, lost their lives when a vehicle skidded and rolled down a road near Daksum in Kokernag.

According to officials, a Sumo van with the registration number JK03H 9017 veered off control and fell down the road.

The vehicle, officials told The Kashmiriyat, was transporting a family of Police personnel posted in Kishtwar, including five children, two women, and a man.

Officials said that the eight deceased belonging to two families were travelling from Kishtwar via Sinthan top towards Marwah, however on the way they are met a fatal accident.

The parents who died along with their children have been identified as Imtiyaz Rather s/o Ghulam Rasool Rather r/o Marhan Kishtwar and Afroza Begum wife of Imtiyaz Ahmad Rather, a resident of Kishtwar.

Their children were identified as  Areeba Imtiyaz  age 12, Aniya Jan age 10 and Abaan Imtiyaz aged 6.

Officials who spoke to The Kashmiriyat said that one woman name Reshma Jan wife of Majid Ahmad, age 40 lost her life along with her children Musaib Majid s/o Majid Ahmad, age 16 and Mushail Majid s/o Majid Ahmad, age 8.

Authorities have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
