December 26

The family of a youth who was recently stabbed by a known offender from Rajbagh in Srinagar has accused the Jammu Kashmir Police of favoring the accused.

A family member of Asif while speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that Asif was near Nehru Park on Sunday when he was stabbed by the culprit.

“They had an argument and the accused identified as Hashim ran away after stabbing Asif in his back,” a family member said.

He said that the family immediately lodged an FIR against Hashim in the concerned Police station, Rajbagh, however no action has been initiated against the culprit as of yet,

They said that “the culprit is a known offender and has committed many offences in the past, however the Police favours the accused and is backed by his sister who is a known lawyer in the high court and is in the good books of some police officials,” the family member told The Kashmiriyat.

They said that the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon but till now no action has been taken by the police station of Raj Bagh.

“It is our humble submission from that some action be taken and the culprit be arrested as soon as possible,” the family members said.

The Station House officer of Rajbagh upon being contacted by The Kashmiriyat said that Police has initiated action and will soon arrest the accused.
