Poppy Straw recovered at Chandhara Pampore

Awantipora police on Saturday claimed to have busted a Poppy processing unit concealed in cow shed and recovered poppy Straw in Chandhara area of Pampore in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

An official told The Kashmiriyat that acting on a tip off, a police party of Police Station Pampore along with Executive Magistrate raided the cowshed of Azad Ahmad Sheikh S/O Ghulam Nabi Sheikh R/O Bunmohalla Chandhara.

During the search of the cowshed police recovered a Poppy Straw processing unit where poppy powder was produced along with Poppy Straw grinder.

Further he added that, police also recovered 5.5 kg of grinded poppy straw from the shed.

Accordingly, case FIR No. 103/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in police station Pampore and investigation into the matter has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
