Bhat Yasir

Residents of Eidgah colony in Wanigam Payeen, Pattan, Baramulla, took to the roads to protest the non-availability of drinking water in their area.

The locals speaking to The Kashmiriyat alleged that they have been without water for several weeks, and the concerned department has failed to take concrete measures to address the issue.

According to a local resident, the only source of water for the mohalla is a small irrigation canal, which has been under maintenance for several weeks, exacerbating the water shortage.

Notably, the Eidgah mohalla is yet to receive piped water supply, rendering government claims hollow.

The locals claimed to have brought the issue to the attention of the area’s MLA, Irfan Hafiz Lone, but to no avail, However, the MLA assured that he has spoken to the concerned officials and directed them to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

AEE PHE division Pattan, while talking to The Kashmiriyat, assured that they are working on the issue and the area will receive water supply soon.
