Protests Erupted in Sadipora Village of Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla

Protests erupted in Sadipora village of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday September 22.

The residents staged a massive protests over non availability of portable drinking water in the area. Men, women and children were seen in staging protest where they blocked the road connecting Dangerpora and Sopore.

The residents said they have been facing shortage of water since long now and the concerning department is not paying any heed.

“The authorities in our area are not taking any measures to end the hardships of people”, said protesters to The Kashmiriyat.

“Despite living in 21st century, we are still struggling with basic amenities, water crisis has become one of the major issues from last couple of months.”

“We are not having enough water available for cleanliness and sanitation purposes”, they further said.

People of Sadipora have informed the concerned department about the shortage of water supply in the area several times but nothing has been done so far to end their sufferings.

“Every time we were assured by the authorities but so far no drinking water is being provided to us” residents of Sadipora alleged.

However the residents of the area have appealed to Deputy Commissioner Baramulla for his speedy intervention in this issue.
