The Jammu Kashmir Police have arrested a man after he cheated a family for not turning up for his wedding in the Kanzdizal area of Pulwama district of south Kashmir.
Earlier, The Kashmiriyat reported, the father of seven daughters was left left in despair after a groom skipped his wedding in Pulwama.
Police in its statement saud, On 19-09-2023 Police Station Awantipora received a written complaint from one Shazia Akhter against Fayaz Ahmad Dar and his father Mohammad Shahban Dar, resident of Kandizal Awantipora stating there in that her wedding reception was scheduled on 16/09/2023 with one Fayaz Ahmad Dar, resident of Kandizal Awantipora after performing the Nikah earlier.
All the arrangements were put in place for the arrival of the groom along with wedding procession, but the wedding reception was called off at the last moment by the groom side on the pretext that the groom has run away and has refused to attend the reception thereby denying the Nikah which has been performed earlier.
Upon this Police Awantipora has taken the cognizance of the matter by registering FIR No 182/2023 U/S 420, 498(A) IPC in Police Station Awantipora against the groom and his father and both have been arrested, Police stated.
Further investigation shall follow.
