The residents of Downipawa, Anantnag on Saturday staged a protest against the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department for failing to provide them drinking water.

Scores of residents including women from Downipawa assembled on the road connecting Achabal areas with Anantnag town and blocked it, alleging the administration has failed to address the problem despite several assurances.

Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, they said, “We face problems due to immense shortage of drinking water, we have approached many times to concerned authorities nothing was done on the ground level.”

The protesters blocked the Achabal Anantnag road leading to a long and messy traffic jam on the road.
