Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, the Advisor to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, is likely to be relieved of his duties within a day or two, according to highly placed sources.

This development comes as the government is set to be formed in Jammu and Kashmir this week, Kashmir News Trust reported.

As the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers take over, the role of advisors like Bhatnagar will cease to exist, and the UT Cabinet will assume responsibility for day-to-day operations.

Currently, Bhatnagar oversees several key departments, including Health & Medical Education, Public Works (R&B), Jal Shakti, Transport, Animal/Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, Revenue, School Education, Higher Education, and Skill Development.

Bhatnagar’s career spans several decades, primarily in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), where he served with distinction before entering the advisory role in Jammu and Kashmir.

He retired as a Director General of CRPF, a position he held from 2016 until his appointment as an advisor in 2020.
