Sarpanch fired upon in Pulwama, Escapes unhurt

A Sarpanch was attacked in the Arihal area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday afternoon.

Sources told The Kashmiriyat that unknown gunmen fired upon a Sarpanch named Ghulam Nabi Kumar at Arihal Pulwama, but he escaped unhurt from the firing.

Pertinently, a Sarpanch identified  Shabir Ahmad Mir son of Mohammed Abdullah Mir, a resident of Odoura was killed on Thursday night.

On March 9, sespected Militants barged inside the house of a Sarpanch Sameer Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Rasheed Bhat, and shot him dead at the Khonmoh area in the outskirts of Srinagar.

On March 2, an independent panchayat member, Mohammad Yaqub Dar, was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Kulgam district of South Kashmir.
